Water/Wastewater Project Engineer (Process)

As a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer at GFA, you will be a part of a growing team working on projects that have tangible impacts on the communities and clients we help.
Responsibilities
- Project Engineer of municipal water and wastewater facilities, including the development of studies, preliminary and final design, and permitting
- Project manager on small to mid-size design and construction projects
- Work with others and effectively delegate tasks to other team members to complete projects on time and on budget
- Determine and monitor project scope, budget, and schedule
- Develop and maintain client relationships
- Supervise and develop project team members, including goal setting, problem solving, coaching, and career guidance
- Manage and coordinate pursuits with Business Development team
- Review design calculations, drawings
- Administer construction contracts including review of construction submittals, pay applications, and project changes
- Manage preliminary and final design and construction phase services for municipal projects
- Perform technical writing in the preparation of project reports, memorandums, letters, record documents, etc
- Run construction and client meetings
- Represent the firm and clients at public meetings
- Provide guidance to clients on project funding
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and MI PE registration
- 10+ years of related experience is desired
- Experience with the study, planning, and design of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure, municipal funding agencies and experience with construction oversight and permitting
- Experience or familiarity working with GIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or hydraulic and hydrology design programs such as WaterCad, SewerCad, EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS or HEC-RAS
- Strong background in water system hydraulics and water treatment processes
- Proven experience in preparing and meeting budgets and schedules
- Proven experience in developing engineering scopes and work plans
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills including technical and proposal writing
- Proven knowledge of codes, engineering & surveying practices
- Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in technical writing of deliverables including work plans, quality program documents, summary reports, and project correspondence
- Experience in developing and delivering technical presentations to both technical and layman audiences
- Familiarity with Municipal, Township and County government practices and regulations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
