Over time, traffic signs loose reflectivity and degrade due to sun exposure, weather, or other damage. In 2023, GFA contracted with the Michigan Department of Transporation (MDOT) to provide full construction engineering services for the replacement of 72 miles of non-freeway sign upgrades on various routes in Cheboygan, Crawford and Emmet Counties. The project was completed by Action Traffic Maintenance, Inc. and consisted of the installation of over 37,000 feet of steel sign posts, over 5,500 feet of wood sign posts, and over 15,000 square feet of new traffic signs. GFA completed all construction engineering duties of the project, including construction inspeciton, office technician duties, and project management on behalf of MDOT.
