Phase I of the Village of Central Lake - Thurston Park for Everyone Project was completed by Sommer Solutions in August 2026. Phase I was made possible through a Michigan Department of Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant with support from Paddle Antrim. The park received a new EZ Dock accessible kayak launch, improved parking with accessible walks east of the Intermediate River, a storm water treatment structure, new trash cans and benches, and a kayak storage rack with lockers. Buried trash and unknown buried utilities required timely design changes during construction. These improvements provide another accessible point on the Chain of Lakes Water Trail! GFA assisted the Village from the initial concept planning and grant application, engineering design, through construction management and project closeout. 

Phase II of the park improvements are anticipated for the Spring of 2027!
